Connelly on the round-up

 

I think Connelly had the best time out of all of us. He LOVES the outdoors. He ran around all day without a care in the world. His nose was running and by the end of the day his snot was black from all the dirt...if you know me, you'll know how bad I HATE THAT! Well, he rode with me on a horse for over an hour. He was so cute he kept saying "I'm a cowboy." He also helped a lot with his little yells of "HUP COW, HUP."

Although Londyn is too little to help on the round-up she had fun being there to support the rest of us! She hung out in her stroller, in the car with Mommy, and ventured out to see the excitement in between naps. :)

Oaklyn had an absolute blast! She got so dirty! She played in the dirt, found lots of bugs, played at the Jacob Lake park, rode horses, played with some new friends, and loved every minute of it.

We went to Jacob Lake, AZ this weekend to help with a cattle round up. It's a family tradition to go a few times a year and we absolutely LOVE IT! Dan's dad started taking them when they were tiny, and we started going shortly after we got married. The kids had a blast, and we had fun helping with the cows. Even Londyn got on a horse (on daddy's lap)! We got home dirty and tired!

American Idol!

We have been watching American Idol religiously this season. Our love for the show has resurfaced with the Utah connection with David Archuleta. Dan's parents live in his stake and only like three blocks from his house. In fact, Dan's dad was in his pioneer trek family! Dan's uncle Brett and aunt Cindy have also been friends with them for awhile and even got to attend the performances one week in California...anyway, Oaklyn has grown to love it with us.

Well the other day we were driving and we couldn't figure out what the heck she was talking about. She kept saying "LOOK MOM AMERICAN IDOL"!!! She probably said it 5-6 times. I had no idea what she was talking about. She kept saying it at the most random times. We were driving home from Salt Lake and she said it when we were on the freeway in the middle of nowhere (somewhere by Yuba Lake).

Well we FINALLY figured it out. She kept seeing the FORD symbol. She must have seen a ford truck drive by us on the freeway!

The Circus

Today we decided at the last minute to go to the circus that was in Cedar City. Connelly's favorite part of the circus was the motorcycles in the cage!



Oaklyn was SOOO brave and rode the elephant!



Londyn didn't like the circus much, so here is a picture of her being happy at home after church on Sunday!

Who eats more? Um, Dan eats more than anyone. :)

Who does the dishes? We switch off. It's pretty much even in that arena.

Who cooks dinner? I don't cook much, in fact he told me recently that he wanted to send me to culinary school...I tried not to be offended. :)
Who drives when you are together? He does, he hates when I drive. I think it scares him. He's a HORRIBLE back seat driver.

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? UMMMM, I think I do. He thinks he's right ALL THE TIME. :)
Whose parents do you see the most? We really try to keep this even.
Who has more friends? I do, I'm pretty social. I love having lots of people around.

Who wears the pants in the family? This is up for debate. I know that everyone thinks that I wear the pants, but really Dan is in charge. Maybe you all don't see that side of him, but I sure do.

Family Update

Have you ever thought that your brain was SOOOO full that you might explode!?! That's how I feel lately. My brain feels tired!

The last few weeks have been really busy.



Oaklyn has been saying some really cute and funny things that I needed to document. She asked me the other day if I had another baby in my belly. I said no, and she acted really disappointed. She looked at me with her big blue eyes and said, "Mommy, I want you to have HUNDREDS of kids." I about fell of my chair!

The other day she told me "Braydon thinks I'm beautiful. He's going to marry me!"

She loves to be the "leader" at her preschool. The other day she was so excited because she got to be the leader that day. Her teacher probably gets a kick out of her because she told me that before she could be the leader again, it was Savannah's turn, then Whitney's turn, and then .....and so on with the entire class...and then it will be MY TURN AGAIN!!!

Connelly is pretty funny lately too. His new thing is that he says "sounds good" after everything. He asks me almost every day if we can go to the "bowling ball" (which means can we go bowling). He loves bowling!

A few weeks ago he was saying something that I couldn't understand very well. It sounded like "can we go see Jesus." I couldn't figure it out, but I said that someday we would get to see Jesus. Well, a few days later a commercial for CHUCK-E-CHEESES came on the TV...yeah, he wasn't asking to go see Jesus after all, he was saying "LET'S GO TO CHUCK-E-CHEESES!!" I felt like a better parent when I thought he was asking about Jesus!

Londyn update: she's rolling over!! Crazy how fast they grow huh! Oh and, her hair is RED!!!!

Man Date!

I have the best wife in the world! A few days ago my brother in law Phil called and asked if I wanted to go to the Colors concert down here at SUU. Of course I wanted to go, but I wanted Brooke to come too. She said that it was just fine and she would stay home with the kids so I could go. Then a few hours later Phil texted me and asked if I wanted to go fishing before the concert. My wonderful wife just smiled and said "Sure, go have a boys day out"! Anyway, we fished the Kanarriville Falls river for about four hours or so and caught well over 50 fish. Then later we went to the concert, Colors was awesome! I wish they would perform more. Thanks honey for letting me and Phil go on our Man Date! Here are some of the pics we took fishing. This is why I love living in Southern Utah!!!
