Meet Brown Sugar Ulrich

We have officially become a "dog" family this week! It has been so fun for the kids because they have been DYING for a dog. My friend Liz found her, and tried to find her original owners. She put an ad on Craigslist, called the pound...etc, but no one claimed her. She'd been out on her own for a long time, her hair was knotted, and she was filthy. So, Liz cleaned her up and wanted to keep her. Liz already has a dog, and they decided that two dogs was too much. So, we got this DARLING dog for free.

She is so calm with the kids. Londyn keeps laying on her. It's so cute. Sugar just lets them carry her around. I love it.

Funny story though. We got "her" from Liz and Jo (they said she was a girl) well, I took her to get groomed and the groomer said that "she" was actually a "he". So for about 3 hours, we changed his name to Rufus. Well, when I went back to the groomer to pick her up, she said they made a mistake and that Rufus was actually a girl again. Ha ha...so her name was changed back to Sugar.

We decided to name her Sugar because of her fur. The color is a honey/brown sugar color. Lately we've all been calling her Shoogs. What a fun step in our family to finally have a dog!

A few people wanted to see the before and after transformation. Here you go! CRAZY huh! She doesn't even look like the same dog.

Welcome Shoogs to the Ulrich family! She is cuter than I was expecting (after you told me and Jen how ugly she was when Liz found her. Haha, just teasing... she's cute.) Anyway, you HAVE to come check out the couch on my blog! It turned out so cute! The flowers on the pillows make it!! Thanks for your help and a late night. Boomer felt bad for you. He said his stomach would turn everytime you said you didn't have a lesson plan for the morning yet. I guess he hates lesson planning! :) Let me know what you think about the couch!

We named our girl cat Esther before we realized she was actually a he. Unfortunately for the poor cat just had to keep the name because it was too late I guess at that point :) Cute puppy.

What a cute little dog she is! I am glad that you guys have given her a good home. It makes me sad that she was a homeless little dog. It totally looks likes a different dog after her bath and grooming.

why is everybody congratulating you on making such a mistake? what kind of friends are these? here's the real advice: go out to the unfinished back yard, dig a hole about oh, i'd say one annoying little yapper dog long by about 8 inches wide, take that same shovel you dug the hole with, and smack the dog on the head just like you would break up a dirt clod, and then roll her (or him, or her) into the hole. then bury and forget.

in a couple of years when you didn't take my advice and you are wishing you didn't have a dog (like every time you want to travel, or when you get sick of having to take care of your dog's immunizations and teeth when you don't even take care of your kids' immunizations and teeth, or when your kids run around the grass instead of on it because there's poop on it), just refer back to this comment and follow the directions above. don't worry it's never too late to correct a major mistake.
